Currently, a wave of anti-trans hatred is sweeping the Western world. From the UK to the US, legislators are passing anti-trans laws, reducing access to gender-affirming care, and in some cases simply criminalizing existence as trans. 

What this can lead to is, effectively, elimination. The explicit goal stated by many of our opponents in this is to morally mandate trans people out of existence. If they can't do it by criminalization, they'll do it by conversion abuse, or by social contagion from the slur of "groomer". 

We must act NOW to get Canada to recognize this is our modern MS St. Louis moment - that time in 1939 when a shipful of Jews, fleeing Nazi persecution, were turned away first by Canada, then by the US, eventually being driven back to Europe, where a third of them died in the Holocaust. This time we want to get it right. The United States and the United Kingdom are no longer Safe Third Countries for trans and nonbinary people, and we need to immediately stop treating them as such. Lives are on the line.
