As a student at this university, I am deeply concerned for my safety and the safety of others. Recently, a fellow resident from our dormitory has been arrested by the police for assaulting a girl. Even prior to this event, there have been numerous reports from female students about his inappropriate behavior. This is not only discomforting but also alarming. The Department of Justice reports that around 80% of student victims in U.S. colleges and universities do not report the crime to the police. I fear that this underreporting could be happening on our own campus. By allowing this student to continue living in the dorms, we unwittingly create an unsafe sphere, leaving room for further incidents. Our school should prioritize creating an environment where all students feel safe and no one lives in fear. Therefore, we request that the university heed our concerns and take immediate action to expel the offender from campus housing.
