Expedite the Repair of Highway 330 Before Winter to Improve Safety

The Issue

As a resident of Running Springs, CA, each collision or incident on our roads hits home. Our community has been deeply impacted by the forest fire "line fire", and the subsequent closure of Highway 330. This gateway, which is vital for our community, has been rendered unusable.

The consequences have been dire. With the entire community now driving up one highway, the 18, accidents have been happening at an alarming rate, with fatalities occurring weekly. This single-road concentration of traffic is not just disrupting, it's devastating. Our community deserves safety; it deserves access to Highway 330.

Our concerns are further heightened with the approach of winter. With ice and snow combined with inexperienced drivers on the 18 highway, the potential for increased collisions is terrifying. We need Highway 330 open to distribute traffic and reduce collisions before this happens. We deserve safe roads.

Data from Transport Research Laboratory shows that road traffic crashes cost the U.S. $518 billion per year, 1.3 million people die in road crashes each year, and another 20-50 million are injured or disabled. These statistics are not just numbers, they are lives, and a significant portion of this harm could be prevented by making the reopening of Highway 330 expedited before winter.

By signing this petition, we appeal to the responsible entities to expedite the reopening of Highway 330 for the safety and well-being of our community. Your support can save lives—it is time we receive the safe roads we deserve. Please sign this petition to expedite remedial action on Highway 330.
