Expedite construction of a footpath at the entrance to Liberty Place
The Issue
The current Section 278 highway works associated with the Vistry development do not include the construction of a pavement needed to provide safe pedestrian access between the main entrance of the development and Marshfoot lane, leaving residents and visitors without a safe walking route and creating a significant health and safety risk.
There is, within plan, to narrow the actual road area which would give plenty of room for a pavement to be constructed by ESCC.
Despite repeated attempts to raise these concerns with East Sussex County Council Highways, no meaningful response has been received.
The petition highlights the frustration from residents in regard to the total lack of concern towards an extreme health and safety risk.
Pedestrians are having to walk in the road, navigating cars at 30mph+ and the uneven road. There is no suitable walkway for pedestrians, mobility scooters or those using prams for in excess of 30 meters.
