My husband, Mr. Hani A A Abualqaraya, is trapped in South Gaza and his life is at risk due to the ongoing aggression and bombing in the region. He needs clearance from both Israel and Egypt to exit the Rafah Border crossing but despite our pleas, there has been no update from the FCDO UK or Jerusalem. My husband is a kind, simple man who means everything to me and our three children. We are desperate for him to be reunited with us safely.

The situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate with increasing violence and scarcity of resources leading to starvation and disease (source: UNRWA). The UK government has a responsibility towards its citizens abroad under international law (source: Vienna Convention on Consular Relations). My husbands Palestinian but he's my islamic spouse and I'm British. Yet, despite this obligation, we feel abandoned by our own government at a time when we need them most. We need the help of the UK government to put pressure on Israel and Egypt to clear hanis name and add his name to the list to exit Rafah immediately.

We urge the UK government not only fulfil their duty but also show compassion by doing everything within their power to expedite clearance for my husband so that he can escape this dangerous situation.
