As a passionate and consistent user of TikTok, I have noticed a pattern of limited options for song selections and original content, as well as a need for upgraded editing features on the platform. TikTok prides itself on empowering its users to be creators, but the relatively small music library and basic editing tools have been stifling the potential creativity of numerous users. Quoting Apptopia's 2021 report, TikTok had 690 million users globally as of late 2020, but the editing features haven't significantly improved in line with the growing user base (source: Apptopia's Annual Mobile App Report). This is a call for TikTok not just to acknowledge, but also to act upon the need of its vast and diverse community. TikTok must strive to allow for a broader song selection, encourage self-credited content and implement advanced editing tools. Let's urge TikTok to provide its users with the resources they need to create, innovate and flourish.
