Tegan Spary, like many others, believed that her private health insurance would cover the cost of her Sport Rehabilitation treatment. She had sustained an injury and sought out these services to aid in her recovery. To her dismay, when she attempted to make a claim, it was denied despite the undeniable fact that the rehabilitation was instrumental in healing her injury.

This is not an isolated situation; countless individuals have found themselves in similar predicaments. The current policies of private health insurance companies limit coverage for Sport Rehabilitation treatment, leaving many policyholders without access to the treatment they would choose.

Sport Rehabilitators play a crucial role in helping people recover from injuries and return to their normal lives. They work closely with patients on personalised treatment plans that yield successful results. However, these services are often inaccessible without insurance coverage.

It's time for change. We call upon private health insurance companies to expand their coverage policies to include Sport Rehabilitation treatment as eligible claims. By doing so, they would be acknowledging the importance of these professionals' work and ensuring more people can access their beneficial treatments.

I’m pleased to say though, an hour later, I was excited, gleeful and pain free. My outstanding Rehabilitator made me feel so taken care of.

People with chronic pain can feel as if there’s so much conflicting advice and it can be a difficult, confusing and upsetting time but I was so confident in the rehabber’s abilities that I booked 6-8 sessions before I left as I was certain that she knew how to help me.

I do have private health care and am in current discussions with them about my back injury/ going for scans but I won’t be substituting seeing a rehabber for anyone in my cover at Bupa. I’m a big fan!”
