Petition updateExpand NHS outreach for over 70s mammograms

Great news and not so great news

Two pieces of great news:

1.  Right now we have 70,261 signatures and still rising, so thank you and please keep sharing.. There are several comments saying they've self-referred and booked a mammogram having read the petition, that they were unaware they could do so.

2. Thanks to Nick at change.org,  I was contacted by  BBC Look East and the lovely Nikki Fox and cameraman Jamie came to my home today and interviewed me on why I started the petition. It goes out this Thursday (day of my surgery). Hopefully it will get covered by all the BBC regions and more lives will get saved by the information.

Now the not so great news: I owe everyone an apology.  Seems I was, wrongly, informed that with 100,000 signatures the petition would go before Parliament. I have recently found out this is not so. "Outreach for over-70s mammograms" has to be presented to Parliament via a government website (apparently not much success there) or raised by an  MP.  So folks, we need to contact our MPs. Hopefully our huge numbers of signatures (still rising) in the petition will add ammunition.

Thanks again. I'll update again after op on Thursday....
