Expand Bus Services for Mulbarton & Surrounding Village Residents
The Issue
Public transportation is a critical service for residents of any community. For the residents of Mulbarton, Norwich, having access to reliable and frequent bus services is essential not only for commuting to work or school but also for accessing social amenities and vital services across Norwich and beyond. Currently, the lack of bus services past 7 PM has placed significant limitations on the social and economic activities of our community members.
Mulbarton is a growing community with increasing numbers of residents who rely on public transportation for their daily needs. As the community expands, so does the demand for more comprehensive and flexible public transport options. Without adequate bus services in the evening, residents face challenges in participating in evening classes, engaging in social events, or even working late shifts without the fear of being stranded.
The lack of late-evening buses means that those who cannot drive, either because of financial constraints or personal preferences, are significantly disadvantaged. More late bus services would greatly enhance the quality of life for Mulbarton residents, providing them with more opportunities for employment, education, and recreation.
Additionally, improving public transportation aligns with environmental goals by reducing the reliance on private car usage, thereby cutting down on emissions and traffic congestion within Norwich. This proposed service expansion will foster a more connected, sustainable, and inclusive community.
We urge First Bus to address this pressing need by extending bus services to Mulbarton beyond the current 7 PM cutoff. This change will reflect a commitment to support our growing community and contribute to a healthier, more accessible city for everyone.
Sign this petition to support the call for expanded bus services in Mulbarton, ensuring reliable and equitable transportation for all residents, regardless of the time of day.
