The Future of Birkdale Village

The Issue

North American Properties (NAP) acquired Birkdale Village in November 2020 with a vision to transform the nearly 20-year-old lifestyle center into a true mixed-use development, ensuring the beloved destination stays relevant and successful by attracting guests from across the region for years to come. In January of this year, we broke ground on the first phase of Birkdale Reimagined and delivered a new public realm experience within nine months. Quickly, the community made themselves at home in Huntersville’s Living Room, and our team has been absolutely blown away by the incredible support we’ve felt over the last few months.

Now, we need the help of Birkdale’s biggest fans to bring even more to The Village. 

On November 21, the Huntersville Town Board will vote on whether or not to approve a rezoning request we made in order to build Class A office-over-retail, a boutique hotel, luxury multifamily and two parking decks adding a total of 900 spaces to the center (at least half of which will be available to the public on nights and weekends). We’re continuing to work closely with the Town to conceptualize the design, and although nothing will be finalized for many months, we believe our refined plan best represents the future of Birkdale.

We have received recommendations for approval from Town staff and the Planning Board, and would be grateful to have your support in the expansion of Birkdale Village, too. There are a few ways to voice your views:
