Hello,

As mentioned in my previous update, Seattle Parks and Recreation recently shared disappointing news about the future of Green Lake Pool. Instead of moving forward with a new aquatic facility, the City is now proposing to renovate the existing Green Lake Pool building. The building's historic footprint presents design constraints that make it more challenging to incorporate modern construction methods, technology, and facility features that best serve the community.

After the public meeting, a group of community members came together to discuss next steps. We agree that our top priority is to work with the City to find a solution that allows for a larger, modern aquatic facility at Green Lake and meets community needs.

Now is not the time to give up; it is time to keep fighting.

We also learned that there may be future opportunities to secure additional funding for citywide aquatics. While I will share information about those opportunities as they arise, our immediate focus must remain on the Green Lake project currently before the City.
