Don’t Cut Funds To The Utah Department of Healthʼs Health Clinics of Utah program

Each of Utah’s legislative appropriations subcommittee have been tasked with finding areas within their department to cut funds from. One of the areas in question is the Utah Department of Health’s – Health Clinics of Utah program.

The Health Clinics of Utah program serves 13,000 patients along the Wasatch front. The majority are on Medicaid, Medicare, or are underinsured. Full dental care services, family practice, internal medicine, chronic disease management, children vaccinations are provided here. They also provide health services for juveniles and children in state custody, and dental services in schools.

More than ever vulnerable communities need access to these services and cutting funds in the middle of a global pandemic, and especially when communities of color living in marginalized, underrepresented communities have the highest infection rate in the county and state, and highest hospitalization rate in the state and in the county, cutting funds to these program would cause catastrophic outcomes.

We need to demand the Executive Appropriations subcommittee to CONTINUE to fund the Health Clinics of Utah and signing this petition will send a clear message that Utahns DO NOT agree with cutting funds to this important program.
