In May of this year, under cover of its attack on Gaza, the Israeli military raided the Al Tafawk Children’s Centre in Jenin Refugee Camp. They were apparently looking for weapons.

In order to ensure that they didn’t miss any, Israel’s brave soldiers destroyed the water pipes, wrecked the electricity junction, broke handles off the doors, trampled on the toys and even ripped up the children’s reading book.

Apparently the children didn’t need to learn to read since they would only grow up to be ‘murderers’ and would die early in any event.

The Brighton Trust, a registered charity, has been supporting the Al Tafawk Centre for over 3 years and we had to raise thousands of pounds in order that the Centre could open again. The Centre is still not back to normal but it is now feeding and teaching the children and enabling them to engage in play again free of the daily terror from the Israeli military.

This Xmas we hope to be able to ensure that, after a tumultuous and frightening year, which no child should experience and which the children of the Jewish settlers never experience, that they will be able to the festive season.
