Every Member State to have a UN Youth Delegate Program
The Issue
Because ✨ opportunities create dreams — and dreams create positive change.
📡 Also, for a government, appointing a Youth Delegate is about asking itself a question.
It means recognizing the importance of an idea still too often seen as vague: that young people are, in their own way, capable of contributing to international affairs — whether 🌐 cultural, 🧩 social, or 🗳️ political.
As young people, we are convinced that we can support our governments, especially in areas where they may lack capacity due to the constant diplomatic and national urgencies they must navigate. ⏳
💡 We can help spark social, technological, cultural, and educational innovation.
🤝 We can build multilateral social ties that lead to new partnerships — in trade, academia, or beyond.
🌱 We can launch global initiatives grounded in bodily understandings — that peace 🕊️, listening 👂, and justice ⚖️ can carry living beings far, together.
🌟 WHAT IS A UNYD?
A UN Youth Delegate (UNYD) is a young person appointed for one year by their government — or a regional organization — to represent youth voices in international diplomacy.
A UNYD is not appointed for a one-time event — it is a long-term commitment, often made in collaboration with national youth organizations.
✨ So many countries still don’t have one.
And as the UN has taught us: change becomes real when we build it together.
🎯 OUR GOAL?
To ensure every country recognizes the importance of youth voices — and empowers young people to engage in international diplomacy on their behalf, starting at a younger age.
By asking themselves the powerful, stake-filled question:
“Who would be my Youth Delegate for Multilateralism if I had to have one? Because I do need to have one.”
So that, together, young people can push their governments toward better, more inclusive, forward-thinking, and ambitious policymaking — nourished by their own lived realities.
💡 WHY THIS MATTERS:
✨ Opportunities = Dreams
🏛️ For governments: Choosing = Recognizing the importance
🧩 Dreamers who act = Future changemakers
🙂 Youth voices recognized = Youth ideas taken seriously
👥 Are you a young person from a country without a Youth Delegate program?
➡️ Join as a focal point for change — we’re building a global table of knowledge and solidarity.
🧭 Already a Youth Delegate?
➡️ Add your knowledge to our database for action.
✊ Together, we can make sure no young person is left out of dreaming — and that governments are led by the youth voices they recognize.
Thank you!
Victoire, Afra, and everyone who wants to join!
❓ Questions That Remain to Be Answered:
How do we address the financial hurdles tied to the cost of being a Youth Delegate?
1. Solidarity Fund:
What if we created a dedicated fund to ensure no young person is excluded from global participation due to limited country budget? Or better yet — what if we activated existing ones like the Joint SDG Fund or regional mechanisms?
2. 🔄 Or shift the mindset entirely:
How do we reduce costs while enriching the experience?
Network Support?
Travel doesn’t have to mean expensive hotels. Youth already host each other — we’ve always done that. Let’s acknowledge that solidarity already works. Let’s make it part of how we design diplomacy.
📜 WE THE PEOPLES OF THE UNITED NATIONS DETERMINED [EDITED]
to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, which twice in our lifetime has brought untold sorrow to mankind, and
to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person — of all ages, economic conditions, and cultures — in the equal rights of men and women and of nations large and small, and
to establish conditions under which justice and respect for the obligations arising from treaties and other sources of international law can be maintained, and
to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom,
