Officials decide to go ahead with Car Week

According to the Carmel Pine Cone this morning, Monterey County has sent out a press release stating that Car Week events will be able to proceed. Here's what the Pine Cone relayed: "County spokeswoman Maia Carroll sent out a press release this week confirming that the car events “scheduled to begin August 13th will be able to continue even as Soberanes Fire efforts remain active.” But Carroll noted that fire officials “could require adjusting routes and/or locations in certain areas to accommodate [firefighting] operations if conditions warrant.” “Agencies are working out the fire logistics and request the various event organizers to help plan for the safe movement of fire personnel, equipment and vehicles.” We sure hope they know what they are doing, and where they will get the additional sheriffs, CHP and other law enforcement personnel needed to direct traffic for the apparently untouchable extravaganza that is Car Week.... Perhaps a really big outcry would help, so please do continue to share and sign... Apparently the number we have isn't enough!
