As a trans advocate, artist, and organizer, I preserve stories that others want erased—through visuals, lore, and remembrance. When leaders attack trans rights, they are threatening our futures. This fight is deeply personal because I have felt the fear and isolation that comes with discrimination. Yet, I am also acutely aware of the power of resistance. I won’t allow hate to write the ending of this story. This petition stands as my protest, my narrative, and my shield against injustice.

In recent years, trans rights in the United Kingdom and United States have faced relentless attacks. Legislations are being proposed and enacted aiming to dismantle the liberties enjoyed by the trans community. In 2022 alone, over 150 anti-trans bills were proposed across the United States, creating an environment of hostility and fear for trans individuals. Similarly, the UK government’s recent actions against trans rights protections have exacerbated this situation, leaving many feeling unsafe and unwelcome in their own countries.

Canada, however, stands as a beacon of hope for trans people, as it continues to champion LGBTQ+ rights. Consider Canada’s passing of Bill C-16 in 2017 which updated the Canadian Human Rights Act and the criminal code to include gender identity and expression as protected grounds. Canada’s commitment to inclusivity and safety makes it a potential refuge for trans individuals seeking security and acceptance.

Given the increasing hostility towards trans individuals in the UK and US, it is essential to explore viable relocation options for those living in fear for their safety and future. We are calling upon the Canadian government to establish a humanitarian program that offers refuge to trans people from these regions, enabling them to live freely and securely.

To our governments in the UK and US, the time has come to reassess and realign your stance on human rights and ensure that trans individuals are protected under the law. It's high time to foster communities where love and acceptance prevail over prejudice and hate.
