It appears the Maryland PSC had an administrative meeting and mentioned our petition as well as called out BGE directly (forgoing calling out the other Exelon / evSmart companies). It's nice they're putting BGE on notice but missing others as well as putting companies on notice is not good enough.
If Exelon companies would have listened to public comment before purchasing and installing the stations they would've saved time, money and energy and would not have the current issues.
Saying a station is online when 1 of Chademo or CCS is offline is false reporting. if either connector is offline the station is in fact offline to the EV Driver who needs that connector. each connector should have it's own up-time % since they are in fact 2 different chargers for each driver. If a charger is offline for that driver this leads to towing or roadside assistance taking them to another (hopefully working) station!
Another concern from this meeting is the comments about ending the evSmart program after 5 years. This is a TRAGIC and EXTREMELY ALRAMING and CONCERNING comment. This is the exact same thing that happened with the Royal Farm charger program! Royal farms adhered to the program requirements until the program ended and warranties expired and walked away from their chargers all together. Now their chargers are failing at an ALARMING rate and going unresolved. NOW they've went as far as taking the chargers off of apps like Chargepoint and Plugshare! Saying the program doesn't work so lets shut the program down is NOT AN OPTION. Yes, if the power companies can't hold to the high standards EV Drivers expect then move to a company to manage the network who understands the standards EV Drivers expect but don't end the program. We need more working reliable chargers not more broken non-functional chargers due to a program ending!
At some point Electrify America / VW needs to be held accountable as well for their oversight for Chademo drivers. Having 1 Chademo for 4+ CCS per site is a disappointment to EV Drivers since EVs are known to last longer then ICE cars which means older Chademp cars will be around for a long time!
I'm glad this petition is making some sort of a difference and getting to the ears and eyes of those who can make change! I never thought I could get a petition off the ground yet alone get it in front of those who can help and I'm glad the Marylands PSC took the time to review this petition and start questioning the issues.
I'm glad that we are getting more and more signatures, we're up to 90, let's shoot for 100 or more. Please keep sharing the petition to all EV or Hybrid drivers don't stop now. We're only at the beginning of this movement and we have a VERY long way to go. As new EVs come on the road this problem will only get worse not better until people are held accountable for their actions and something is done about it!
