The Federal Government has e-petitions - so why can't we have them in the Eurobodalla?

If you haven't emailed the Eurobodalla Shire Council (ESC) yet asking that they change the Meeting Code of Practice Policy to accept All electronic petitions - PLEASE take a couple of minutes TODAY. Every single submission counts. Just send a quick email to council@esc.nsw.gov.au. I've done some more digging on petitions. Australia DOES already have e-petitions - at the federal level. The Government HAS built a pretty inexpensive and simple system to enhance citizen engagement. You can create an e-petition and sign one using the Federal system. The ESC could approach the Federal Government and ask for a copy of the code for their system and then have it modified for the ESC (and I am sure the Federal Government would be only to happy to oblige - they do this kind of stuff all the time!) or the ESC IT tech team could whip up a few online forms and implement their own. It would be a cost effective method of engagement with citizens and an excellent method for the ESC to determine the level of community support for ideas. People of this shire DO NOT just want to be able to comment on policies every four years.
