Eucalyptus public Safety

The Issue

To Alameda county Flood, Public works, Nate Miley, Daniel Wosenbeck:

As you aware of the eucalyptus trees that run along the Kelly Canyon Creek between Sandy and Madison Ave are a current cause for concern. Within a 48-hr. period we have had two of the massive trees fall onto two different homes. The remaining trees are a threat to our lives and homes.  There remains about a dozen trees standing to blow in the wind and soak up the remaining rainwater. These 100+ ft trees weighing at 300+ tons are a major threat to our homes and our lives. The residence that live in the shadows of these monstrous trees are at risk every day. This a public safety concern and action needs to be taken. Some of the giant trees are not maintained in a safe condition deeming them a public nuisance. If one tree falls it can easily take out several homes and families. With the matter of private vs county property, the eucalyptus trees are considered an immediate threat to property and people. The massive trees pose as a hazardous threat and need to be removed. Why wait for lives to be lost. The cost of tree removal is by far less the cost of home rebuilding, EMS services, PG&E restoring power, construction, home rebuilding, funeral service and life lost. Alameda County needs to do something ASAP! Signing this petition will bring awareness to danger and hazards of these old foreign trees.
