Petition updateEtsy: Don’t Violate Our Privacy RightsExcellent article about our fight!

Our fight against being forced to use Plaid has been featured in Hyperallergic magazine! It's excellent coverage of our issue, please share on social media!

The closest thing we've ever gotten to a "response" from Etsy on any of our grievances is the statements they send to reporters each time there is an article published about us.  This article was no exception.  It closed with a statement from Etsy about Plaid.

“We are committed to providing a secure experience for anyone using Plaid to safely and easily connect their financial accounts to the apps and services they want to use,”

Plaid does not number among the apps we "want to use", and we shouldn't be forced to use it to keep our Etsy shops. That's our whole issue.

The second half of Etsy's statement reads:

“We welcome anyone with questions or concerns to contact our support team directly.”

Remember when we all reached out to Etsy chat support at once to ask for a non-Plaid option?  There's a new option in the menu now - one specific to Plaid.  "I'm having trouble updating my bank account".  Except, the option to chat with Etsy support about Plaid is not there.  Instead, you can have someone call you, or send an email, which people have confirmed gets you a cookie cutter response.

As usual, Etsy's public-facing statements differ quite a lot from the way they actually treat their sellers.

If you haven't yet reached out to your local media to let them know about Plaid, please do so now!  We have copy-paste email templates and a press release you can simply attach to your email all ready to go here.

Thank you for joining us in this fight!
