Hi everyone! A few quick updates. Those of us who have been holding out on the Plaid requirement noticed something new today! It appears that Etsy is no longer planning to suspend our shops for refusing to take this action. The line in the message about shop suspension has been removed, and the message now simply talks about the requirement, and states that we will no longer be paid if we refuse to connect to Plaid.
Second update! If your timer is running out, and you can't afford to wait any longer to verify your bank, we have a blog post on our site with a backup plan:
https://indiesellersguild.org/what-to-do-if-youre-out-of-time-on-plaid/
It's not a perfect plan, but it will get you past the requirement while we continue to fight for a better option.
Third update! We've gotten new reports that people reaching out to Etsy support about Plaid are hearing a new message. Etsy reps are telling them to keep an eye on Etsy's community announcements section, for potential new updates on the Plaid situation.
Are they working on solutions, or offering us platitudes in the hopes of keeping us silent? We will find out.
We've talked about the situation with Plaid in a couple interviews, and have a couple more to follow. BUT - it appears that the stations most eager to cover this story are local ones. That means - the only way the word gets out about this is with your help. If you haven't yet, please reach out to your local media about Etsy's sketchy Plaid requirement. Thank you so much for joining us in this fight! #indiestrong
