It's heartbreaking that Lake Tana is overrun by the highly invasive water hyacinth weed, endangering its biodiversity and the large population that depends on it.

This invasive water hyacinth weed needs immediate action by the Ethiopian government. The government shall stop turning a blind eye on this important lake of East & North Africa; and it has to organise & fund the eradication work of the weed reviving the water body and many lives depending on it.

አሁን 50ሽ ሄክታር ገደማ በእምቦጭ ተጠቅቷል። 

ታድያ የታላቁን የህዳሴ ግድብ አባይ ላይ እየገነባን፡ መነሻውን ጣና ሃይቅ ከማጥፋት ለመታደግ ምነው ቸል አልነው???

ስለ ጣና ዝም አንልም!!!

ብዙ ማህበረሰቦች፣ የአባይ ተፋሰስ (ከኢትዮጵያ እስከ ግብፅ) እና ብዙ ተፈጥሮዎች በሃይቁ ላይ ጥገኞች ናቸው። ውሀው እንደሚሠጋው ቢደርቅ በምስራቅ እና ሰሜን አፍሪቃ አጠቃላይ ሚያደርሰው ማህበረሰባዊ፣ ኢኮኖሚያዊና ተፈጥሯዊ ውድመት ለማሰብ ይከብዳል። ችግሩን ለመረዳት ግን ችግሩ ውስጥ እስከምንገባ መጠበቅ የለብንም!!!

ጣናን ከእንቦጭ ጸድቶ የማየት ምኞት ያጨናገፈው ችላ ባይነትና እንቅፋትነት መወገድ አለበት፡፡

Lake Tana, largest lake of Ethiopia, located in a depression of the northwest plateau, 6,000 feet (1,800 metres) above sea level. It forms the main reservoir for the Blue Nile (Abbay) River, which drains its southern extremity near Bahir Dar. The lake's surface covers 1,418 square miles (3,673 square km), with a surrounding drainage of 4,500 square miles (11,650 square km); its maximum depth is 45 feet (14 metres).

There are thirty-seven islands scattered about on the 3,000-square-kilometre (1,860-square-mile) surface of Ethiopia's largest body of water: Lake Tana, which gives birth to the Blue Nile. Some twenty of these shelter churches and monasteries of immense historical and cultural interest; decorated with beautiful paintings and housing innumerable treasures.
