My name is August and I am a Therian. In my life, I have experienced several instances of discrimination and harassment because of my identity. This shared reality for many like me has made navigating through everyday life, particularly educational environments, a less-than-desirable ordeal. I believe it is time for a change.

Therians are individuals who spiritually, and oftentimes, mentally identify as non-human animals. Similarly, Alterhumans include identities that relate to being or feeling beyond or other than humans. Today, we are calling upon educational authorities to establish specialized Therian and Alterhuman schools. This is not to segregate but to create a safer environment where knowledge can be absorbed without the fear of persecution.

It's important to note that negative treatment and bullying can have serious effects on Therian and Alterhuman students. According to a study by the National Bullying Prevention Center, students who are bullied often experience a decline in academic performance, physical health problems, and negative mental health outcomes. Having schools that cater to Therian and Alterhuman education will not only foster a better learning environment. Still, it will also offer a platform for these individuals to understand their nature and learn in an empathetic setting.

I urge authorities to consider the needs of all of their citizens, including those of us who may be outside of the mainstream. A specialized school for Therians and Alterhumans will protect us from unwarranted disrespect and discrimination, and offer us a platform to grow and learn, just like everyone else.
