Hey everyone! I’m Anthony Richards, an Eagle Scout from Troop 30 in Wirt County, WV. Scouting has been a huge part of my life, and earning my Eagle Scout rank is definitely my biggest achievement. I actually celebrated my Board of Review (BOR) on July 29, 2024, and I was so excited to get an Eagle Scout license plate—only to find out that West Virginia doesn’t offer them!

A bunch of other states like Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Nevada have these special plates for Eagle Scouts, recognizing the dedication and hard work that goes into earning this rank. But here in West Virginia, even though we have so many Scouts who reach this level, we don’t get the same recognition.

The Boy Scouts of America awarded over 54,000 Eagle Scout ranks nationwide in 2018 alone. With the Eagle Scout rank representing the top 4% of all Scouts, it’s a huge deal and deserves to be recognized at the state level just like in other states.

These license plates would be a cool way to show off our achievements and the values we stand for. They’d also help people see how Scouting makes a positive impact on young people across our state.

I’m asking my fellow Scouts, Eagle Scouts, and everyone who supports Scouting to help me make this happen. If you believe in what Scouting stands for and want to see Eagle Scouts get the recognition they deserve, please sign this petition and share it with others.

Let’s make Eagle Scout license plates a reality in West Virginia and proudly show off our Scouting spirit on the road!

Join us in supporting this initiative to create WV Specialty License Plates for Eagle Scouts and Scouts!

Thanks for your support!
