Establish Southington Public Schools as a Peanut-Free District

Establish Southington Public Schools as a Peanut-Free District
The Issue
My daughter, like many other children in our community, lives with a life-threatening peanut allergy. Every day at school will be filled with anxiety and fear that she might accidentally come into contact with peanuts. This is not just about my child; it's about every child who shares this same fear.
According to Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE), approximately 5.6 million children under the age of 18 have food allergies in the United States. That's one in every 13 children, or roughly two students per classroom. Among these children, peanut allergy is the most common.
By making Southington Public Schools a peanut-free district, we can create a safer learning environment for all students who suffer from this severe allergy. This change will not only protect them but also educate others about the seriousness of food allergies.
We urge Southington Public Schools to take immediate action on this matter and prioritize student safety above all else by establishing our schools as peanut-free zones. Please sign this petition to show your support for creating a safer learning environment for all our kids.
