Parental Alienation is Child Abuse. This has been mentioned in the comments and well recognized.

It is heart breaking for a loving parent to lose their child and then to be treated by everyone - the courts, the schools, the medical systems etc as an abusive parent. This is not deserved by the parent and not good for the child. The child needs to feel safe in an environment that will acknowledge and give power to the protective parent. The child should not be forced emotionally to align with the coercive parent as the system seems to support this parent. 

Loving parents, mothers or fathers, should not be erased from their child's lives post family separation. Getting out of an abusive relationship, should not mean losing access to your child.
