By making MLB Opening Day a national holiday, we would be acknowledging its cultural importance and allowing millions more to participate without work or school conflicts. It would also serve as recognition for baseball's historical impact on our society - from breaking racial barriers with #42 Jackie Robinson of the Brooklyn Dodgers to providing solace during times of national crisis like World Wars 1 or 2, or 9-11.
