Establish June 4th as National Rural Cancer Awareness Day

The Issue

As a cancer physician with nearly twenty years of experience in rural healthcare, I've been a frontline witness to the disparities faced by rural communities in accessing cancer care and resources.

The fight against cancer is challenging enough, but for those in rural areas, it's compounded by isolation, limited access to healthcare facilities, and a lack of awareness about this deadly disease.

Cancer knows no boundaries, yet the divide in care and knowledge is stark. While cities have a plethora of resources and support systems, rural communities often struggle in silence and solitude. This isn't just unfair – it's a crisis that demands immediate attention.

That's why RuralCancer.org is championing the initiative to establish June 4th as National Rural Cancer Awareness Day. This day isn't just about awareness; it's a call to action. It's about bringing the same level of support, education, and empowerment to rural communities that urban areas have long enjoyed. It's about ensuring that no one, regardless of where they live, fights cancer alone.

We need your voice to make this happen. By signing this petition, you're not just supporting a date on the calendar; you're advocating for equity, education, and empowerment. You're helping to bring resources, attention, and hope to those who have been overlooked for far too long.

Thank you for your support. Every signature brings us one step closer to a future where no one faces cancer alone, no matter where they live.
