Establish Ethical Boundaries for Survival-Grade AI Technology

The Issue

Created by: David Lynn Stansberry III (RelayMind / The Me Channel)

Category: Technology Ethics & Public Safety

Goal: Public support for ethical, emergency-only access to survival-grade AI systems

SUMMARY

We, the undersigned, believe that survival-grade artificial intelligence systems — tools designed for crisis, collapse, disaster, or life-preserving scenarios — should be governed by clear ethical boundaries, public transparency, and strict emergency-only access. These systems should not become casual consumer products or unregulated institutional assets. This petition is not political and does not propose legislation. This is a public moral statement about boundaries humanity must acknowledge before the technology exceeds our ability to contain it.

THE ISSUE

As AI systems advance, we are entering an era where individuals or institutions can wield tools capable of storing or reconstructing knowledge, running offline advanced models, coordinating survival logistics, or guiding communities through extreme events. These devices are not toys. They are civilizational levers.

And right now, there are no widely understood ethical frameworks defining who should have access, under what conditions, for what purposes, with what oversight, and with what safeguards.

This conversation is nationally imperative and globally urgent.

WHY I CARE

Last year, I invented a prototype called The Survival Computer — a rugged, EMP-resistant, AI-driven device capable of running a self-contained model in isolation. I did not build it to sell it.

I built it to prove it could be built, and to open a conversation about what happens when tools like this fall into unregulated hands, untrained hands, unethical hands, governmental hands without transparency, or corporate hands without accountability.

The invention is not the point. The warning is.

THE ROLE OF THE ME CHANNEL

The Me Channel — my ongoing narrative, documentary, and AI ethics project — has served as the multimedia arm of this message. Across hundreds of posts and experiments, it has shown what AI can create, distort, reveal, and accidentally enable. It is a living case study in how ordinary people can accidentally access extraordinary technological power.

This petition moves from performance to principle, from warning to responsibility.

Some technologies should exist only for genuine emergencies. This is one of them.

WHAT THIS PETITION ASKS

We are calling for a publicly affirmed ethical stance:

“Survival-grade AI systems should only be accessible under strict, transparent, emergency-only conditions, governed by public ethical standards.”

No mandates. No bans. No political pressure.

Simply a shared public belief that certain boundaries must exist.

WHY THIS MATTERS GLOBALLY

If we handle this incorrectly, authoritarian regimes, corporations, or extremist groups could exploit survival-grade AI for control, profit, manipulation, or destabilization. Disaster responses could be undermined. Information ecosystems could fracture.

If we handle it correctly, these tools remain ethical, limited, and protective.

Humanity retains control of the technologies meant to preserve life, not distort it.

THE SPICY TRUTH

We now live in a world where ordinary people can build tech at home that governments still think requires a lab.

We live in a world where private creators uncover dangers and possibilities faster than corporations.

And we live in a world where a TikTok channel can outpace institutions in speed, creativity, and public awareness.

That’s why this matters now.

The ground is shifting, and everyone deserves a voice in where we land.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

You can sign.

You can share.

You can help start the first public conversation about how humanity should handle survival-grade AI tools before they handle us.

Your signature says:

“I believe certain technologies should remain ethical, transparent, and reserved for true emergencies.”
