Establish Dedicated Painted Crosswalks for War Veterans in Canadian Cities

Establish Dedicated Painted Crosswalks for War Veterans in Canadian Cities
The Issue
As a Canadian deeply invested in honoring the efforts of our military personnel and veterans, I believe it's essential that we turn towards a visible, everyday tribute that reminds us of their sacrifices and service. My proposal is simple yet profound - paint dedicated crosswalks celebrating our war veterans in every Canadian city.
Canada has a sizable military and veteran population, with the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces employing more than 65,000 Regular Force members and approximately 25,000 Reserve Force members. Along with this active population, we also owe a debt of gratitude to the more than 600,000 veterans who have already served our nation (Veterans Affairs Canada, 2020).
Remembering and acknowledging their sacrifices is not a task for special days or designated memorials alone; it should be a part of our day-to-day life. Implementing painted crosswalks in honor of our veterans will serve as a constant, empowering reminder of their service.
Every time a citizen crosses the road, they will pause and think about the freedom they enjoy - all thanks to the veterans who have served, fought, and sometimes, paid the ultimate price for our country. It's a simple gesture, but filled with meaning and respect for our heroes.
Join this effort to pay due respect to our war veterans in an accessible, everyday manner. Demonstrate your support for this initiative and let's make a small part of our patriots' journey, a part of everyone's daily commute. Sign this petition to establish dedicated painted crosswalks for war veterans in every Canadian city. Let's take a step towards honoring their service daily.
