Establish an Animal Rescue Facility in Meigs County, TN

The Issue

Every day, we receive calls for help. Stray animals are found abandoned, abused, neglected or worse - deliberately killed. We want to help them all but we simply can't. We have nowhere to put them and our resources are stretched thin. It's unbearable to turn our back on an animal in need... it breaks us every day.

Meigs County is currently facing an alarming rate of animal mistreatment with no place for these animals to go. Our law enforcement has no recourse due to the lack of facilities designed to rescue and rehabilitate these innocent creatures.

A rescue facility isn't just about the animals; it reflects our community's values, morals, and compassion. The establishment of such a facility would not only provide a safe haven for these animals but also demonstrate that Meigs County stands against animal cruelty.

According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter U.S shelters nationwide every year—of which approximately 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats (ASPCA). Given this national trend, it is reasonable to infer that there is a significant number of stray or mistreated pets within Meigs County alone who desperately need our help.

We urge local government officials and relevant authorities in Meigs County TN to take immediate action by assisting us towards establishing an animal rescue facility within our county boundaries. Once we have a rescue facility in Meigs County we will be able to provide the necessary care they need while also working towards reducing the staggering statistics with education, spay and neuter programs, pet food pantries, fostering, and appropriate adoption procedures.

Please sign this petition if you believe in creating a safer environment for all living beings in Meigs County - because every life matters! We're stronger as a community when we stand together!
