Establish a Skatepark for the Health and Well-being of Deer Park's Children

The Issue

As a resident of Deer Park, TX, I've witnessed firsthand the struggle our children face in finding a safe and suitable place to skate. The lack of facilities not only limits their ability to engage in physical activity but also deprives them of an important social outlet.

Skateboarding is more than just a hobby; it's an effective way for kids to stay active and healthy. According to the American Heart Association, engaging in physical activities like skateboarding can help reduce the risk of obesity, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes among children (American Heart Association). Yet, our young skaters are often seen on streets or empty parking lots due to lack of proper facilities.

Deer Park needs a dedicated skatepark - not only as a safe haven for these young enthusiasts but also as an investment in our community’s health. A study by USC found that youth who have access to skateparks are five times more likely to be physically active than those who do not (USC Study).

By establishing a local skatepark, we can provide our children with an accessible place where they can exercise their passion safely while promoting good health habits that will last them into adulthood.

Let us come together as one community and support this cause for the benefit of our children's future. Please sign this petition urging city officials to establish a dedicated skatepark in Deer Park.
