We are a community largely comprising elderly individuals, farmers, and business owners in Euroa and nearby towns.  Many of us struggle with modern technology and require in-person assistance when navigating Centrelink, Medicare, and other essential services provided by Services Australia.  Due to the geographical challenges and time constraints, travelling to Shepparton or Seymour to access Services Australia offices is not a feasible option. We also encounter prolonged waiting times while seeking telephonic guidance.  It is indeed distressing when administrative difficulties impede our access to crucial services, thus affecting our quality of life.

The current scenario paints a grim picture, as those who need these services the most are finding it grueling to access them.  One study indicates that approximately 35% of individuals over the age of 65 have difficulty using technology.  This percentage, more likely than not, is higher in rural areas such as Euroa, where residents frequently have less exposure to, and assistance with, technology (Australian Communications Consumer Action Network, 2017).

Establishing a Services Australia agency in Euroa will drastically improve the situation.  It will provide our residents with easy access to important lifelines, making their lives significantly better.  We ask for your support in signing this petition and facilitating the set up of a Services Australia agency in Euroa.  Together we can urge our government to acknowledge our community's needs and take the necessary action.  If you agree, please support us by signing this petition.
