My own family has suffered heartbreaking loss when my younger cousin and my older brother did not receive lifesaving help in time. The agony of waiting, hoping, and ultimately losing them has left an indelible mark on us. No community should have to endure that pain, and no family should have to wonder whether help will arrive when they need it most. This is why I urge you to support the establishment of a Reservation-Based Fire and Ambulance Emergency Services Department for the Mitchikanibikok Inik First Nation / Algonquins of Barriere Lake.

Our current situation is dire. The Mitchikanibikok Inik First Nation community is located in a remote area, making us highly susceptible to emergencies that require immediate attention and rapid response time. Unfortunately, the lack of a nearby and adequately staffed fire and ambulance service often results in devastating consequences during emergencies.
