Hello K-8 MI supporters,
The push for K-8 Mandarin Immersion continues to make progress with important milestones and progress
SFUSD is deciding right now on the size and location of the district-run Mandarin immersion K-8 launching next year.
Your response by April 21 will help determine how many seats exist. It takes 2 minutes. If enough families show interest, this launches at full scale. If not, it may be smaller — or not happen at all.
Now Abby and Justin, two SF parents who are leading a new effort to advocate for the SFUSD Mandarin immersion K-8. We’re holding monthly meetings with district leadership to keep the parent perspective front and center. We’re rolling up our sleeves on enrollment planning, teacher staffing, and fundraising.
Our inaugural meeting on March 10 brought together:
- Liana Szeto - Alice Fong Yu’s founding principal and leader of this effort
- Hong Mei Pang - SFUSD Head of Communications & Governance
- Supryia Ray - Commissioner, Board of Education
- Phil Kim - President, Board of Education
The momentum is real. Our next meeting is April 21 and we want to walk in with overwhelming proof that hundreds of families want this school.
Help secure enough seats — take 2 min to add your name now:
Please also forward this to any SF families who might be interested — your daycare peers, neighborhood groups, etc. Reaching beyond this community will make this real.
Let’s make this happen!
Best,
Abby & Justin
