Our community, composed of passionate West Australians, is again pushing for the formation of a Perth-to-Albany train line.

We know that a push for this train line is not a new concept to the local communities of Southern WA; time and time again, groups have fought for the re-establishment of this train line. Enough is enough, and it is time for the Western Australian government to kick-start this plan into action.

The absence of a reliable rail service has significantly limited the travel opportunities for residents, enterprises, and tourists in our region. Person-to-person connectivity and business activities can be seamlessly improved through a well-situated train line. It would furnish a safer, more affordable, and environmentally-friendly alternative to laborious road trips.

In addition, a train line between Perth and Albany can boost local economies. It will foster regional development by generating new jobs and stimulating economic activity. Improved access to essential services is another compelling advantage. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, regional areas lag behind in access to these services. Hence, a train line would mitigate this disparity and increase the quality of life for residents.

Furthermore, this train line would set an example for sustainable travel options, aligning with the Australian Government's commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 26-28% below 2005 levels by 2030, as part of the Paris Agreement.
