Establish a New Alert System for Missing Children Outside Amber Alert Criteria

Establish a New Alert System for Missing Children Outside Amber Alert Criteria

The Issue

I am a grieving Grandmother, my grandson was tragically murdered because his situation didn't meet the criteria for an amber alert. This is a pain no parent should have to endure. Every missing child deserves the best chance at survival, regardless of whether their circumstances fit into existing alert systems.

Currently, the Amber Alert system has strict criteria that must be met before an alert can be issued. While this ensures that alerts are taken seriously and not overused, it also means that certain cases of missing children do not receive the urgent attention they need from the public. According to statistics from The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), in 2022 alone there were 21,494 cases of children missing from care- many of these would not qualify for an amber alert.

We propose creating and naming a new subsection apart from the Amber Alert system that will be named the PRINCE ALERT in honor of Prince Mccree and it will cover situations where children are missing but don't fit within those specific criteria. This new system would help ensure all missing children get immediate attention and increase their chances of being found safe.

Please sign this petition to urge our lawmakers to establish this new alert system so no child falls through the cracks again.
