The Issue

Men in Fiji face unique challenges and vulnerabilities that are often overlooked. The reality is stark: the majority of the prison population comprises men, and an alarming number of suicide cases involve male victims. Furthermore, boys represent a significant portion of sex crime victims, and there are countless instances of domestic violence against men that go unreported. These facts highlight a dire need for targeted support and dedicated resources.

While women’s issues have been rightfully addressed through various governmental and non-governmental organizations, men's issues have largely remained in the shadows. It is time to bring them into the light. Establishing a Ministry for Men in Fiji is a crucial step in addressing these pressing concerns. This ministry would serve as an advocacy body, raising awareness and providing support through targeted programs and initiatives.

The presence of a Ministry for Men would empower organizations to focus on men's mental health, encourage dialogue about men's issues, and promote gender equality in a holistic way. We need dedicated NGOs to fight for men's rights and a governmental ministry to oversee their welfare.

Men’s rights are human rights. It’s time to acknowledge that both genders need equal levels of advocacy and support. By recognizing the distinct challenges men face, we can foster a more inclusive society for everyone.

Join us in calling upon the Fijian government to establish a Ministry for Men. Sign this petition, and become a part of this vital change that will benefit not only men but the entire community.
