Establish a Girls' Varsity Wrestling Team at Lowville Academy

The Issue

Hello. My name is Kaibree. I live in a rural area in SECTION 3 of New York. I come from a family of wrestlers and I have wrestled for boys' youth, modified, and varsity teams. Now that wrestling is sanctioned for women, I am passionately driven to see it grow in my hometown. With this objective in perspective, I am advocating for the establishment of a Girls' Varsity Wrestling Team at Lowville Academy for grades 7-12. This proposal also encompasses girls from surrounding schools that currently lack such an opportunity. Wrestling is one of the fastest-growing sports. According to USA Wrestling, the national governing body for the sport of wrestling in the United States, there was a 27% increase in the number of girls participating in high school wrestling from 2017 to 2018. Therefore, by establishing a team at Lowville Academy, we can provide these students with an equal opportunity to engage in this rapidly expanding sport history. Together, let us foster an inclusive environment where our girls can participate and compete in wrestling at a school level. Please sign this petition to champion for equality in sports and support the establishment of a girls' wrestling team for the 2025-2026 school year at Lowville Academy.
