I have observed the only reef system in North America withering before my eyes, dropping its hard coral coverage from 75% to a mere 3% today. The quality of our waters directly affected my livelihood, forcing me to sell my waterfront motel and boat tour businesses. Today, Florida's "Blue Water" economy teeters on the brink of collapse. Our tourism, our primary income source, is highly dependent on clean waters, and without them, travelers will turn elsewhere.

Sadly, this devastating narrative isn't unique to me. The outdated political and regulatory framework designated to protect our environment has simply failed us all. Despite efforts, our waters remain more contaminated than ever.
