As a parent and member of the Plainsboro, NJ community, I've seen firsthand how our children and their friends struggle to find suitable places to practice cricket. Our kids love this sport and it's disheartening to see them unable to fully engage due to lack of proper facilities.

Cricket is not just a game; it teaches teamwork, discipline, strategic thinking and physical fitness. However, without an adequate ground in Plainsboro for our youth cricket players, we are denying them these benefits. NJ weather allows only 6 month of outdoor activities and during this period without proper flood light lit ground we are just wasting the weather and our kids don't get enough practice time which other kids in other township receive. According to USA Cricket's 2019 annual report, there has been a 35% increase in youth participation nationwide over the past five years (USA Cricket Annual Report 2019). This demonstrates the growing popularity of cricket among young people.

Yet despite this growth in interest and participation rates locally as well as nationally, our community lacks the necessary infrastructure for our kids' cricket practice. We believe that allocating space for a full-size cricket ground with appropriate facilities would greatly benefit not only our children but also enhance community spirit by providing a gathering place for families during matches.

We urge local authorities in Plainsboro Township to recognize the importance of this issue and take action by allocating land for a full-size cricket ground with proper facilities. By doing so they will be investing not only in sports infrastructure but also contributing towards healthy development of young people who are passionate about playing cricket.

We also request the authorities in Plainsboro Township to have the ground lit with flood lights so kids can practice like baseball etc. It will be good if township can build batting cages on the side of the ground to help kids develop skills.
