Our organisation is actively involved in running three poverty relief projects, one of which is a pet food bank. The experience we have garnered from such causes has opened our eyes to the financial and emotional burden that veterinary bills can impart on people. Our proposal is thus a simple, yet profound one - the establishment of an "NHS-Style Service" for pets in the UK.

We as an organisation would be willing to get actively involved in this venture, with funding and backing from the government, to set up these services in every city in the UK, to start with and then extend the program to cover more areas as needed

Free healthcare for people is a right that has been recognised and catered to, via the National Health Service. It is high time that same compassion is extended towards the animals we consider part of our families. Much akin to the NHS system, this service would enable pet owners to access free treatment for their beloved pets, significantly alleviating the monetary strain that currently exists.

According to the PDSA, one in three dog or cat owners had to make the unbearable decision to put their pet to sleep due to the cost of treatment in 2019. Based on the RSPCA, it is estimated that 49% of UK adults have a pet, which implies that almost half of the population could potentially be affected by such a predicament.

Our mission is to prevent anyone in the UK from having to face such a heart-wrenching decision. In the spirit of compassion and fairness, we implore you to support our plea for the establishment of a free "NHS-Style Service" for pets.
