She has witnessed our life's highs and lows, offering unwavering companionship and love throughout. Yet, as we come to terms with the thought of her not being with us, we face another daunting reality. In Madeira, where we live, there is no facility where we can take Molly to ensure she remains a part of our lives even after passing. 

This is not just our heartbreak but a sorrow shared by many pet owners in Madeira, who, just like us, yearn for a lasting memorial of their beloved furry friends. Unfortunately, there's currently no individual pet cremation facility here. 

Pet cremation is not only a way of saying a final goodbye but also a method of preserving the bond and memories we share with our pets. In the UK, for instance, 77% of pet owners choose cremation for their pets, highlighting the significance of this service (source: Association of Private Pet Cemeteries and Crematoria).

We call on the local government to address this gap by establishing a dedicated facility for individual pet cremations in Madeira. This would greatly help in providing a dignified final honor to our pets and would also offer families a sense of closure.

Pets are not merely animals; they are significant members of our households. Their lives and their end should be given the respect that is shown to any other member of our homes.
