However, the absence of a designated, fenced-off dog park compels many owners to let their dogs off leash, leading to potential safety and regulatory challenges for all park users. 

We are fortunate to have an abundance of empty space within Willow Park. It would be relatively easy to allocate a portion of this space for a dedicated dog park, ensuring safety for everyone and providing a much-needed resource for dogs and their owners alike. This is especially crucial considering the absence of any dog park in this part of Whitby.

There is precedence for such initiatives bringing about positive change. According to the National Recreation and Park Association, dog parks are among the fastest-growing park amenities in the nation, improving the overall livability of a community.
