Establish a Dedicated Dog Park in the Cordata Neighborhood
The Issue
My dog, like many others in our community, thrives on interaction with other dogs. Off-leash play is not just fun for them, but also crucial for their social development and overall well-being. In Cordata neighborhood of Bellingham, WA, we have a large population of dogs who deserve a dedicated space to run free and play.
Despite the high number of dog owners in our area, there is no dedicated dog park available. This lack of space forces many pet owners to resort to using public parks or school grounds as makeshift dog parks which can lead to conflicts with other community members.
According to American Pet Products Association (APPA), 67% of U.S households own at least one pet. With such high numbers nationally and considering the visible presence of pets in our own neighborhood, it's clear that a dedicated dog park would be beneficial for both pets and their owners.
A designated off-leash area would provide an appropriate place for dogs to exercise and socialize safely while reducing potential conflicts with non-pet owning residents. It will also foster stronger bonds within our community as neighbors come together over shared love for their pets.
We urge local authorities to consider this request seriously and allocate resources towards establishing a dedicated dog park within Cordata neighborhood. Let's make our community more inclusive for all its members - including those on four legs! Please sign this petition if you agree that we need a dedicated space where our canine companions can run free and interact safely.
