As residents of Kerman, CA, we have personally witnessed the toll the lack of art & entertainment can have, especially when its in a supportive community. Speaking from personal experience, art can provide us all, particularly children and teenagers, with a means of expressing complex emotions at their own pace in an environment that feels safe. 

It is art that imparted me with the strength to work through sadness, anger, and other unexpressed emotions. Painting became a tool of balance, a voice I found in me that could express what words, at times, could not.Art has been a way for me to disconnect and stay focused.  We believe that the establishment of a community art studio is not merely an addition but a necessity in our town.

This studio would serve as a beacon of creative expression and education for all ages and abilities within the community. It would offer classes, workshops, and a continuous open space for our local artists. Additionally, it would be a platform for exhibitions, to showcase our talents and community projects.

Moreover, research supports how engagement in the arts may improve mental health and overall quality of life. According to a report by the American Journal of Public Health, artistic engagement significantly decreases anxiety, depression, and stress and boosts psychological resilience (AJPH, 2010).

We urge you to support our adventure of creating a vibrant space that would nurture creativity, provide resources, and facilitate non-verbal communication, especially for adults,teenagers, and children who find it difficult expressing themselves verbally.
