Proposal: Replacement of bridge and associated highways works involving realignment, junction improvements and width increase of the carriageway.

 The carriageway is designed wider so that refuse lorries can 'safely manoeuvre' over the bridge. Boxted bridge is a cross county border bridge between Essex and Suffolk, shown as the red line on the map.

Babergh District Council (Suffolk) and Colchester City Council (Essex) refuse departments were contacted to ask if their refuse vehicles would ever have a need to cross Boxted bridge to make collections. Read the correspondence:  The answer is no.
