Watch this inspiring film about the restoration of Cookham Bridge, Berkshire, written by Geoff Wallis, Dorothea Restoration. It shows with the right will, and the right people and skills, what can be achieved. What a lovely positive testimonial to the positive power of engineering.
Cookham bridge (1867) was opened to motorists on 16 March 2024 after a five month revamp. Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Council said the work "ensured the bridge is fit for purpose for decades to come" and avoided more disruptive work. The work included bearing replacement, re-waterproofing, resurfacing and joint replacement.
