Colchester prides itself with our night-time economy, yet advises visitors not to rely on public transport in the evening. At present most services cease as early as 10pm with one line ceasing even before 8.To support both tourism and make Colchester more attractive for young People and visitors of venues like the Mercury Theatre we need reliable bus services in the evening.

Therefore we are calling for First Bus to provide half-hourly services on routes 1,8,61,62,64-66 until midnight and Essex County Council to consider funding these additional services. In addition to that we are calling for First and Essex University Students Union to reach an agreement to allow bus pass holders to use the safety bus after midnight.
