Proposed Public Space Protection Order - Deadline 31/01/2022

The Council have opened up a Proposed Public Space Protection Order Consultation for Roscommon Way which was opened on 20/12/2021 and will run until 31/01/2022.
I was hoping they would have sent out letters to affected residents, however we have no received anything in the post and other than a post on their Facebook site and one share on Canvey Matters (Facebook) I have seen nothing further.
I am unsure how the council believe they will get a fair response back with minimal promotion of their work.

he Council is considering introducing a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) for the Roscommon Way area of Canvey Island to prevent vehicle related anti-social behaviour.
Public Space Protection Orders (PSPO) are a tool available to Councils under the Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014 and are intended to be used to deal with a particular nuisance or problem in a specific area that is having a detrimental effect to the local community’s quality of life, by imposing conditions on the use of that area which apply to everyone. They are intended to help ensure that the law abiding majority can use and enjoy public spaces, safe from anti-social behaviour.
A person found to be in breach of a PSPO is liable to be issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice of £l00 or on summary conviction to a maximum penalty of a Level 3 fine.
There has been regular complaints of dangerous driving, racing, excessive noise, car cruises and meets since the road was built. Activities can attract large crowds and there is a serious risk posed to spectators.
At the Cabinet meeting on 17 November 2021 it was agreed to commence the statutory consultation on introducing a PSPO to deal with this vehicle anti-social behaviour. We will be consulting with other agencies and is also open to people who live, work or regularly visit the affected area. It will run from 20 December 2021 to 31 January 2022.
Although I do not believe this will be the end of the problems at Roscommon Way, this is the first step in preventing this type of behaviour at the location. Police will have more powers to use against them and if this option fails then will open up more potential solutions in the future.
